My Twilight 2 cents
Brett and I went last night to see Twilight. I purposely planned for us to go to an earlier show so they're wouldn't be as many people, and my plan worked out. We entered the theatre just as the previews was beginning and were still able to get our favorite seats.
I have to admit, I was a wee bit excited as I swiped Brett's card to purchase the tickets and I was praying like crazy that Brett would enjoy it and not bitch and spoil it for me. He said that he liked it and wanted to know all about the next three books. I didn't want to totally ruin the upcoming (?) movies for him but did let him in a few tidbits. I'm glad that he was interested enough to ask. Even though he did not read the books, he mentioned it was a bit predictable for him, but he is good at reading memories and the 'minds of hollywood'. He overall enjoyed it and didn't bitch one bit.
*spoilers*
I, on the other hand, loved it and can't wait for it to come out on DVD. When seeing the trailers for the movie, I didn't think I would like Kristen Stewart as Bella, but she grew on me and by the end of the movie, I was glad she was the one in that role. I was a little disappointed that they didn't show Alice's power a little more, but I guess they have to leave something for the sequels. Ashley Greene (Alice) is just so adorable I want to scoop her up and cuddle! I loved Stephanie Meyer's cameo in the diner! I chuckled when I saw her and had to explain to Brett who she was. I kind of hated that they showed Bella and her dad eating in the diner, when in the book she always cooked his dinner. I think her playing the nurturing role in the book served a purpose. Also, I hated that they didn't show that Edward laid w/ Bella every night. I know for movie length purposes, stuff can't be shown, but I'm not sure that non readers of the book really could understand just how close Bella and Edward are.
I loved the movie and can't wait for the next ones :)

the multiple diner scenes with the waitress seemed so dumb to me, but i understood their purpose for the movie... i mean, they did go to the diner in the book obviously but yeah it would have been good to see more of that "i am nurturing" side of her in the film
